Review Policy

What reviews are for

Reviews on Vet Receipt help pet parents choose a vet with real, firsthand information — and help clinics show the care they provide. We accept reviews from pet owners describing their own experience at a veterinary practice.

What “Verified” means

A review marked Verified is backed by a real invoice or estimate from that clinic, shared with us by the reviewer. We match the document to the clinic before applying the badge. Reviews without a matching document are labeled Unverified — they can still be posted, but readers can see the difference.

A verified rating with no written text is allowed — it still reflects a real, documented visit. Unverified reviews must include a written description.

What we allow

  • Firsthand accounts of your own visit — what happened, how it was handled, what it cost.
  • Honest criticism and honest praise, including naming the staff you dealt with in a factual way.
  • Details about billing, estimates, and pricing — that’s what this site is for.

What we remove

  • Reviews not based on a firsthand experience (secondhand stories, reviews of clinics never visited).
  • Threats, harassment, hate speech, or profanity directed at people.
  • Personal information beyond staff names — home addresses, personal phone numbers, or private details about staff or other clients.
  • Spam, self-promotion, reviews written by a clinic about itself or a competitor, and anything written in exchange for payment.
  • Content that appears fabricated or manipulated, including coordinated review campaigns.

Every review is looked at by a human while our community is growing. We may remove a review that violates this policy at any time, and repeat abuse may lead to removal of all reviews from an account.

For clinics: responding and disputing

Clinics can respond to reviews publicly by claiming their free profile — a reply from the practice appears directly under the review.

If you believe a review violates this policy or was not written by a real client, email [email protected] with the review and what you believe is inaccurate. We review every dispute, check the review against the documentation we hold, and reply with what we did. We don’t remove reviews just because they’re negative — a documented, firsthand, policy-compliant review stays up, and the best response to it is your side of the story, posted publicly.

Edits and removal by reviewers

Reviewers can request edits or removal of their own review anytime by contacting [email protected] from the email tied to the review.
