Vet Receipt is a veterinary price transparency platform that helps pet owners organize, understand, and compare their veterinary expenses. When you upload a vet invoice, we extract line items, categorize costs, and provide summaries, reports, and cost comparisons so you can see where your money is going and how your costs compare to others in your area.
Our features may include cost analysis reports, price comparisons against aggregated market data, cost guide pages, clinic directories, and tools for sharing or redacting invoices. Features may change over time as we develop the platform.
NOTICE: Reports, cost comparisons, and estimates are for informational and budgeting purposes only. They may be incomplete or contain errors and should not be used as the sole basis for medical, veterinary, insurance, or critical financial decisions.
By uploading invoices or other content to Vet Receipt, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, and process that content for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service: Processing your invoices to extract line items, categorize costs, and generate summaries, reports, comparisons, and dashboards for you.
- Improving the Service: Using your data (in anonymized or aggregated form) to develop, test, and improve our extraction tools, categorization, comparison algorithms, and reporting features.
- Security & Operations: Operating, maintaining, and securing the platform, including backups, logging, and abuse prevention.
- Analytics & Research: Creating anonymized and aggregated statistics, insights, benchmarks, and market reports (for example, average prices or spending patterns in a city, region, or nationally).
- Commercial Features & Products: Using anonymized and aggregated data to build features, tools, reports, APIs, data products, and services that may be provided free or as paid offerings to consumers, businesses, or enterprise customers.
- Public-Facing Content: Using aggregated pricing data and statistics in public content such as cost guide pages, blog posts, reports, and educational materials.
We do not sell your personal identifying information. Any external use of pet owner data (for example, in research, public reports, or commercial products) will use anonymized and/or aggregated information that does not identify you personally.
Data Lifecycle & Retention
When you upload an invoice, we process it through the following lifecycle:
- Extraction: We extract structured data from your invoice, including line items, service descriptions, prices, dates, clinic information, and pet details. This extracted data becomes part of our permanent dataset.
- Redaction: We create a redacted version of your invoice that removes personal identifying information (such as your name, address, account numbers, and payment details) while preserving the visual layout, pricing, and service information. Redaction is performed using automated tools and may be supplemented by manual review. We do not guarantee that redaction will be complete or error-free. Residual personal information may occasionally remain in redacted documents due to unusual invoice formats, handwritten content, non-standard layouts, or other factors. By uploading content, you acknowledge this risk and agree that Vet Receipt is not liable for any personal information that may remain visible in a redacted document. If you believe a publicly displayed document contains your personal information, you may request immediate removal by contacting us at [email protected] and we will remove or re-redact the document promptly.
- Original Deletion: After processing is complete, we may delete the original unredacted invoice image or document. We are not obligated to retain original uploads beyond the time needed for processing.
- Retained Data: We retain (a) all extracted structured data (line items, prices, clinic information, service descriptions, dates, pet details), and (b) redacted versions of invoices, indefinitely for the purposes described in these terms.
Public Display & Marketing Use
By uploading content to Vet Receipt, you grant us the right to publicly display, reproduce, and distribute anonymized and/or redacted versions of your invoices and extracted data for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to:
- Displaying anonymized invoices on public-facing pages such as our Explore feature, cost guide pages, and clinic profiles.
- Using redacted invoices or extracted data in marketing materials, advertisements, social media posts, press releases, case studies, and promotional content for Vet Receipt.
- Sharing anonymized invoice data or redacted invoice images with media outlets, researchers, or partners for educational, journalistic, or promotional purposes.
- Including anonymized or redacted invoice examples in investor materials, pitch presentations, and business development materials.
All publicly displayed or shared invoices will be anonymized and/or redacted to remove personal identifying information about the pet owner. Clinic and business information (names, addresses, pricing) may remain visible, as outlined in Section 3.
This license survives termination of your account. If you request deletion of your personal data, we will delete or de-identify your personal information and original invoice uploads in accordance with our data practices. However, the following will be retained:
- Extracted structured data (line items, prices, service descriptions, dates) that has been separated from your personal identity.
- Redacted invoice images from which personal identifying information has been removed.
- Anonymized and aggregated data already incorporated into statistics, benchmarks, market reports, or derivative data products, as individual contributions cannot be practicably disaggregated from these outputs.
Veterinary invoices contain information about both the pet owner and the veterinary clinic or business that provided the services. You acknowledge and agree that clinic and business information extracted from uploaded invoices — including but not limited to clinic names, business addresses, phone numbers, service descriptions, and pricing — is treated as business information, not personal data.
We may use clinic and business information to:
- Create and maintain business profiles: Public-facing pages for veterinary clinics that display pricing data, service offerings, and other business information derived from user-uploaded invoices and other sources.
- Enable price comparisons: Showing users how a specific clinic's pricing compares to local, regional, or national averages.
- Build directories and listings: Creating searchable directories of veterinary clinics with associated pricing and service information.
- Offer business services: Providing clinics with the opportunity to claim, manage, and enhance their profiles, respond to reviews, and access market intelligence through paid subscription plans.
- Generate market reports: Producing reports on pricing trends, market conditions, and competitive analysis for commercial and enterprise customers.
Clinic profiles may be created and published without the clinic's prior consent, as the information displayed is derived from business transactions and publicly observable business data. Clinics may contact us to claim their profile and request corrections to inaccurate information.
Vet Receipt may display advertising, sponsored content, paid recommendations, and affiliate links as part of the service. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Alternative Recommendations: Based on your uploaded invoice data and our market analysis, we may recommend alternative veterinary clinics, products, or services. Some recommendations may be sponsored or paid placements by third-party businesses.
- Affiliate Links: The service may include links to third-party products and services (such as pet insurance, online pharmacies, and pet supply retailers). We may earn a commission or referral fee if you make a purchase through these links, at no additional cost to you.
- Sponsored Content: Some clinic profiles, search results, or recommendations may be influenced by paid relationships. Sponsored content will be identified where required by applicable law.
- Data-Driven Advertising: We may use anonymized and aggregated data from your uploads (such as the types of services your pet received or your geographic region) to display relevant advertisements and recommendations. We do not share your personal identifying information with advertisers.
Vet Receipt offers an optional service (“Estimate Help”) where, with your consent, we share your care request with veterinary clinics near you and relay or host their replies. By submitting a request, you acknowledge and agree that:
- We Are Not a Veterinary Provider: Vet Receipt is not a veterinary practice and does not provide veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. No veterinarian-client-patient relationship is formed with Vet Receipt at any point in this process. Our intake tools collect and organize the information you provide so clinics can respond — they do not evaluate your pet.
- Outreach Is Best-Effort, With No Guarantee: We contact clinics on your behalf as a courtesy. We do not guarantee that any clinic will respond, offer pricing, propose or accept an appointment, or be able to provide the care you requested — participation is entirely at each clinic’s discretion.
- Clinic Responses Are the Clinic’s Own: Any pricing, availability, or care information a clinic shares through Vet Receipt comes from that clinic, not from us. We do not verify, endorse, or guarantee it, and it is not binding on the clinic — final diagnosis, treatment plans, and pricing typically require the clinic to examine your pet first.
- Appointments Are Between You and the Clinic: When you book or confirm an appointment through the platform, the resulting relationship — including the visit, care provided, and payment for services — is solely between you and that clinic. Vet Receipt is not a party to, and is not responsible for, any veterinary services.
- No Agency: Vet Receipt does not act as the agent of any clinic or pet owner and has no authority to make commitments on a clinic’s behalf. Nothing we relay, summarize, or display constitutes a promise or representation by Vet Receipt about what a clinic will do or charge.
- Not for Emergencies: Estimate Help is not an emergency service. If your pet needs urgent care, contact a local veterinary or emergency clinic directly — do not wait for responses through the platform.
NO WARRANTY – USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
THIS SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT ANY REPORTS, ESTIMATES, COMPARISONS, OR OUTPUTS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, OR CURRENT.
- Not Professional Advice: Reports, cost comparisons, and analysis are not veterinary, medical, tax, legal, insurance, or financial advice.
- Estimates Only: Prices, comparisons, percentiles, and summaries are estimates and may contain errors, omissions, or misclassifications.
- No Guarantees: We cannot guarantee the accuracy of invoice reading, categorization, price comparisons, or calculated statistics.
- Service Maturity: This service is under active development. You should expect occasional bugs, data inaccuracies, service interruptions, and changes to features without notice. Outputs should be independently verified before being relied upon.
- Informational Use Only: You agree not to rely on this service as the sole basis for medical, emergency, or high-stakes financial decisions.
- Professional Consultation: Always consult a licensed veterinarian or other qualified professional for medical and treatment decisions regarding your pet.
- Recommendations Not Endorsements: Any clinic, product, or service recommendations are not endorsements. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or suitability of any recommended provider or product.
- Redaction Limitations: Our automated redaction process is designed to remove personal identifying information from invoices, but is not guaranteed to be complete. We are not liable for any personal information that may inadvertently remain in redacted documents that are displayed publicly or used in marketing materials.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vet Receipt and its owners, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of the service.
Because this is a free service, you agree that our total aggregate liability for any claim related to your use of the service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service (which is currently $0).
You understand that using this service involves risks, including:
- Making decisions based on incomplete, estimated, or inaccurate information
- Technical issues, interruptions, or data loss
- Changes to features, reports, or pricing outputs over time
- Recommendations or comparisons that may not reflect your specific circumstances
- Incomplete redaction of personal information in publicly displayed documents
By using this service, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You understand Vet Receipt is under active development with limitations and potential errors.
- You will not use our reports as the sole basis for important veterinary, medical, or financial decisions.
- You are responsible for verifying any prices or information directly with your veterinary clinic or other professionals.
- You will only upload genuine invoices or documents you have the right to share.
- You understand that clinic and business information from your uploads may be used to create public-facing clinic profiles and price comparisons.
- You understand that original invoice uploads may be deleted after processing, and that extracted data and redacted versions will be retained.
- You consent to anonymized and/or redacted versions of your invoices being displayed publicly and used in marketing, advertising, and promotional materials.
- You understand that automated redaction may not be perfect, and you accept the risk that residual personal information could appear in publicly displayed redacted documents.
- You are responsible for keeping any login credentials secure and for activity under your account.
- The service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
We reserve the right to:
- Modify or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice.

- Restrict or terminate access to the service for any user who abuses or misuses it.
- Remove content that violates laws, rights of others, or these terms.
OUR PRIVACY COMMITMENTS
We are committed to protecting your personal information while still being able to analyze invoice data for expense tracking, price transparency, and anonymized cost insights.
- No Selling of Personal Data: We do not sell your personal identifying information to third parties.
- Limited Use of Personal Data: Personal data (such as your name, address, contact details) is used only to operate the service, communicate with you, and secure your account.
- PII Reduction for Analysis: For research, benchmarking, and analytics, we use invoice data in anonymized and/or aggregated form that is not tied to your identity.
- Business Data Distinction: Clinic names, addresses, and pricing extracted from invoices are treated as business information and may be displayed publicly in clinic profiles, directories, and comparisons. This is not considered personal data.
- Secure Storage: We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect stored invoices and related data.
- Email Use: If you provide an email, it is used to send you reports, account information, and important service updates. We do not sell your email to third parties.
- Data Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal data and original invoice uploads. We will delete or de-identify your personal information where required or appropriate. However, extracted structured data (separated from your identity), redacted invoice images (with PII removed), and anonymized/aggregated data already incorporated into our datasets will be retained. Business information (clinic names, pricing) is not subject to personal data deletion requests.
What We Share With Clinics (Estimate Help)
- Case summary: when you submit an Estimate Help request, an anonymized summary of your pet's situation and the care you're looking for is shared with nearby clinics — your name, exact address, and contact details are withheld at this stage.
- Records and photos: documents, photos, and health-record sections are shared with a clinic only when you explicitly choose to share them with that specific clinic — from your conversation, or by using a secure one-tap link we email you when a clinic requests your records. Shared files are provided as-is and may contain personal details (such as your name) that appear in the original document; only the clinic you choose can view them. Because a clinic may save or download a file once shared, sharing cannot be reliably undone after the fact — share only what you're comfortable that clinic keeping.
- Contact details: a clinic sees your first name when you choose to continue with them; your full name and phone number are shared when an appointment is confirmed, so the clinic can run the visit like any other booking. Your email is shared only if you choose to share it.
- Clinic obligations: clinics receive this information solely to offer care options to you and are bound by confidentiality obligations in our Clinic Terms — they may not resell it or use it for unrelated marketing. Clinics are independent businesses, not agents of Vet Receipt.
- Your controls: sharing is per-clinic and per-item; you can stop responding to any clinic or close your request at any time.
Examples of Data We Collect and Retain:
- Invoice images or files you upload (PDF, JPG, PNG) — retained temporarily for processing, then may be deleted
- Redacted versions of invoices with personal identifying information removed — retained indefinitely
- Invoice line items (service names, prices, dates, taxes, fees) — retained indefinitely
- Clinic information from the invoice (such as clinic name, address, and phone number)
- Pet details included on the invoice (such as species, and in some cases weight)
- City/region information derived from your invoice or input
- Your email address (if you choose to provide it)
- Basic usage and performance data to help us improve the service
Automatic Privacy Protection
Where possible, we minimize the use of personal identifiers in our analysis pipelines and research datasets. Our goal is to focus on prices, procedures, and business information — not on who you are. You should still avoid uploading additional sensitive information that does not need to be on your invoice.
Additional details about how we handle personal information may be provided in a separate Privacy Policy. In the event of a conflict, the more specific policy will apply.
Governing Law: These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Dispute Resolution: Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis. You agree not to participate in any class or representative action against us.
Limitation Period: Any claim you may have arising out of or relating to the service must be brought within one (1) year after the claim arises, or be forever barred.
Severability: If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
